Let’s Uplevel Your Brand

As a business owner, I’m sure you are focused on helping your clients and customers achieve their goals, whether that is growing their business, improving their relationship or insert whatever your amazing product does for us!

But, it's super important (like SUPER super important) to ensure that your own business is legally protected.

I know that having your legal ISH together doesn’t sound like the most fun, but I think it will surprise you! Once you feel protected you do actually feel more confident and empowered in your business.  We hear things like…

“This legal stuff was really holding me back”

“I feel so much better now just knowing I have a solid contract”

“I was using something but really had no idea if it was a good contract or not, now I feel 100% more confident in my business”

That sounds nice right?! Once you uplevel your legal you will feel better, I promise!  So for today, here are 3 ways to uplevel your legal as a business owner:

1. PROTECT YOUR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

It’s no surprise this is our number one. As a business owner, your intellectual property is your most valuable asset. IP is what differentiates you from the 1 million other woman-owned businesses out there.

This includes your brand name, logo, program names, website content, and any courses or other content you have created. It's important to take steps to protect your intellectual property from infringement. This can include registering trademarks and copyright, using watermarks on your images, and including copyright notices on your presentations and books.  If you are unsure where the heck to start on all of this, reach out and let us help, we’d be happy to chat!

2. GET YOUR CLIENT AGREEMENTS IN PLACE

One of the most important legal documents you will need as a business is a client agreement (I’m sure you’ve never heard this from me before right?!) or terms of purchase if you are selling digital or physical products. This agreement outlines the terms of your relationship with your clients or customers and can help protect you if any disputes arise.

It's important to have a well-drafted client agreement that addresses issues such as payment, cancellations, and confidentiality. If you don't already have a client agreement in place, do not stop, do not pass go, do not collect $200, proceed directly to our other business, Destination Legal’s TEMPLATE SHOP and get what you need today.  This one step will uplevel your game BIG TIME.

3. REVIEW YOUR WEBSITE AND MARKETING

Your website and marketing materials are a reflection of your brand. It's important to ensure that these materials are legally compliant and do not violate any laws or regulations.

For example, if you collect personal information from visitors to your website (like AN EMAIL), you must comply with privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) → Cause guess what, your website shows up in California even if you don’t!

You should also ensure that your posts and content do not make false or misleading claims or violate any advertising regulations - for example, you aren’t making any promises that your coaching will lead someone to millionaire status or a size 2.

So what do you think? It’s not difficult to protect your brand in these simple ways. Ask your CEO-self, how are you going to uplevel your legal this week?

By taking these steps, you can check some legal off your list and focus on helping your clients achieve their goals with the peace of mind that your business is legally protected.
